This rating explains how difficult we found the roads on the route were to navigate, with 1 being the easiest to 5 being the most difficult.
1: Wide, paved roads entire route. Easily navigable by any type of vehicle.
2: Some well-graded and maintained dirt or gravel roads are a part of the route. Easily navigable by any type of vehicle.
3: A small portion of the route contains narrow, rough, or especially steep terrain. Could likely be done without 4-wheel-drive in good weather, but 4-wheel-drive is recommended if rainy. Large trailers/RVs would likely be able to navigate the route in good weather.
4: A large portion of the route contains narrow, rough, or especially steep terrain. 4-wheel-drive is recommended, and large trailers/RVs would likely have trouble navigating the route.
5: Most of the route contains narrow, rough, or especially steep terrain, or there is a part of the route that is very difficult to pass. 4-wheel-drive is definitely needed to complete route in any weather, and large trailers/RVs would not be able to navigate the roads.
This rating explains how we would rate the beauty of the landscape on both the drive and at the campsite, as well as how much there is to do in the area (hiking, fishing, swimming, etc.), with 1 being average beauty and no activities, and 5 being beyond incredible beauty with lots to do.
1: Landscape along the route and/or at the campsite is nice, but nothing out of the ordinary or especially interesting. There aren't any hikes, fishing, swimming, etc. opportunities in the area.
2: Landscape along the route and/or at the campsite contains a couple decent views or interesting features (e.g. water features, unique flora or fauna, historical sites, etc.). There are sparse activity opportunities.
3: The route and/or campsite contains numerous good views and/or interesting features, and there are a few options of activities in the area.
4: The landscape along the route and/or at the campsite is especially beautiful, with above average views or interesting features. There are numerous different options for activities to explore the area.
5: The beauty of the landscape literally everywhere you look will take your breath away, and there are a multitude of varied activity types in the area.
This rating explains how we would rate the amount of solitude we experienced along the route and at the campsite, with 1 being hardly any privacy at all and 5 being completely alone.
1: Route and/or camping area are very busy. Usage is high, and you should expect to see lots of people any day of the week. Camping sites are difficult to come by or are directly next to other campers.
2: Route and/or camping area are moderately busy. Usage is high, but is likely a bit lower during the week than on the weekends. Campsites may be close to other campers.
3: Route and/or camping area are somewhat busy. Usage is low during the week, and you may be able to find a private camping spot even on the weekends.
4: Route and/or camping area are not very busy. Usage is low during the week and on weekends, so you will likely be able to find a private camping spot even on the weekends.
5: Route and/or camping area are not very busy at all, so solitude is high. We hardly saw anyone else. on the trip, and you will be pretty much guaranteed. to find an isolated spot any day of the week.
